MONTHLY MEETING. ! At the monthly meeting of the i Leamington Town Board those present S were: Messrs T. A. Hicks (chairman), j. A. E. Peppercorn, T. H. Kelly, F. Mack, i J. W. Garland, and the secretary (Mr { W. Stopford). : Mr F. Lewin wrote asking if the board would reduce the rental of Sections 205 and 6.—The matter was deferred to the next meeting, the secretary stating that by that time the board might know the amended requirements of the Act as regards a 20 per cent, reduction on all rents. The matter of the cutting back of Burns Street hill was again before the [i board. The chairman and.Mr Garland I reported on the question of taking levels, securing trucks and unemployed labour. The board oonflrmed the committee’s reoommendatlon that work on Burns Street hill should be gone on with if unemployed labour were available. Improvements to Corner. The borough engineer, Mr T. Dlx, reported on tar-scaling and improvements to the corner of Shakespeare and Cooke Streets, carried out for the board.—lt was agreed that a great improvement had been effected by the re-formlfig of the corner. It was decided to inspect the site and fix the position for a silent policeman. Noxious Woods. It was reported that some of the roadsides were badly infested with gorse.—The inspector Is .to make an inspection of the district and to report all bad cases. Three weeks will be given in which to effect Improvements, failing which the board will prosecute. It was decided that if street graz- j Ing fees In arrear are not paid within ! ten days the surfaceman will order the 1 cattle to be removed from the streets I and the board will sue for arrears. ! Unemployment. | The board resolved to write to the I Minister of Employment regarding the ' inequality of the discrimination be- | tween town and country in the matter 1 of the “stand down” week; also! asking that, the allocation of relief pay I for Cambridge should be placed on the same basis as in the centres. THE DOMAIN BOARD. The same members sat as the Domain Board. The secretary presented the balance sheet for the year ended March 31, which showed that the year commenced with a cash balance of £6l Gs 9d, and conclu'ed with a balance of £95 i3s Id. The cash assets were set down at £289 14s lOd. Rents outstanding totalled £IBO 7s 9d. With regard to persistent rent defaulters it was agreed that if there were not some improvement Jn seve*-al cases before the next meeting drastic action would be taken.
