THE PETROL TAX
DIVERSION OF FUNDS. PROTEST BY FARMERS. (By Telegraph.—Press Association.) WELLINGTON, Thursday. Protests against the Govenrment’s appropriation of 11500,000 from the petrol tax and against a monopoly of petrol supplies were made at the Dominion executive meeting of the Farmers’ Union. The following remit was carried: “That alt funds collected by way of the benzine tax should be utilised for the purpose of roading an da reduction of rates, and not for any oilier purpose.”
