NEW ZEALAND INSTITUTE.
DAYLIGHT SAVING. SIDEY MEMORIAL MEDAL. (By Telegraph.— Press Association.) WELLINGTON, Thursday. Among many matters dealt with at a meeting of the Board of Governors of the New Zealand institute to-day, was daylight saving, arising from the question, of finally formulating the terms of the deed declaration of the trust in connection with the award of the Sidey Memorial Medal. Sir Thomas Sidey, who was present, said there was latitude in the regulations which would enable the changing times to be met. The award was to be made in respect of light radiations, but this could be extended to include radiations of all kinds. There was discretionary power, and the award could later on go beyond New Zealand and become international. A resolution was introduced asking the Government to extend the halfhour to the twelve months of the year, but on further representations from Sir Thomas Sidey as to what this would mean in inconvenience to the South Island, the resolution was withdrawn, and the discussion lapsed. Air G. E. Archey (Auckland) and Air Rigg (Nelson) were elected Fellows. Air F. Chapman, of the Melbourne Aluseum, was elected an honorary member. . . It was announced that the recipient of the Hector Aledal would he Dr. P. Buck.
