Mr John Allan. —Agriculture. Mr A. A. Dunstan. —Lands and Forests. Mr J. W. Pennington. —Education. Mr J. Jones. —-Works and Mines. Mr G. Goudle. —Labour and Water Supply. The election figures are not yet complete, but the former AttorneyGeneral, Mr W. Slater, is definitely defeated.

Sir Stanley Argyle, Premier and Leader of the United Australia Party in Victoria, is a Melbourne physician and surgeon, who served with distinction during the war and entered politics as a member for the Melbourne suburb of Toorak in 1920. His progress in the Assembly was rapid. . He became Chief Secretary and Minister of Health in several Governments, including the McPherson Government, which held office before the rise of Mr Hogan. He has occupied the post of president of the Victorian branch of the British Medical Association. He was knighted in 1929. Mr lan Macfarlan, Chief Secretary, is a member of the United Australia Party. He represents Brighton in the Legislative Assembly. Mr Robert Menzies, K.G., SolicitorGeneral, has been a member of both Houses, and for a few months was an honorary Minister in the McPherson Government in 1928-29. Differing from his Cabinet colleagues on tion of principle—the desirability of continuing advances to country freezing works—he resigned from the Ministry. He relinquished his Upper House seat after a short tenure to enter the Assembly as member for Nunawading in November of 1929. Mr John Allan, Minister of Agriculture, is a member of the Country Party and represents Rodney in the Legislative Assembly. He was Minister of Lands in 1923 and Premier from November 18, H 924, to May, 1927. Mr A. A. Dunstan, Minister of Lands, is the Country Party representative in the Lower House of Ivorong and Eaglehawk. Mr J. W. Pennington, Minister of Education, has been the United Australia Party member of the Legislative Assembly for Kara Kara many years, with the exception of a break of a few months. He is a popular member and was o-ne of the most capable Nationalist Whips of recent years. He was Assistant-Minister of Agriculture in one of the . Lawson Governments, and has also been an honorary Minister. Mr G. Goudie, Minister of Labour, is a member of the Legislative Council representing the North-west Province.
