PAGEANT OF INDUSTRY

THE WINTER SHOW. GREAT WAIKATO ACHIEVEMENT. PREPARATIONS WELL ADVANCED. Many influences have contributed towards the .-prosperity of the Waikato, but none has survived the years and carried on with ever-increasing progress like the Waikato Wint-ei Show, the district’s greatest commercial and Industrial advertisement. Another show season is to be commenced within the next two weeks, and in keeping with the policy of the Show Association new fields have been entered in arranging for the entertainment of patrons and furthering the interests of exhibitors. Large entiles have been forthcoming for all sections of the syllabus, while many commercial displays will be made, so from an exhibition aspect, -this year’s show should be a great achievement. Nothing has been left undone in making the arrangements. An innovation which is sure to attract widespread interest is the official opening of the show on May 31 by Jason, a robot, or mechanical man.. This amazing creation is as yet unknown to Hamiltonians, but it is safe to predict that it will cause much comment on the -opening day. Numerous special exhibits have been included in the syllabus. In addition to the attractive displays which are being given by the various Women’s Institutes a great competition will be held in. the new class for the best collection of field and garden produce grown by dairy farmers. The exhibits will be staged In an area 12 feet by 4 feet, which will show them to the best advantage. Already a good number of entries have'been received and the display should be one of the features of the agricultural section.

Maintaining tho Prize List. In the past public-spirited business and professional men who have recognised the value of the Waikato Winter Show as a community asset, and an influence In the development of the district, and, indeed, of the province, have shown their appreciation by assisting in the maintenance of the substantial prize list. Their donations have, in fact, largely contributed to the success of the industrial and agricultural sections. Once figain the association is requiring assistance In this direction, and has aspressed the hope that past contributors will again give tangible support. Work is in full swing in- the show buildings, and preparations for the advent of the stallholders are well advanced.
