ACCIDENTS & FATALITIES.
RAILWAY INJURED. WAIHI, Wednesday. While engaged in a railway quarry near Waikino yesterday, Mr Charles A. Rae, a ganger In the 1 employ of the Railway Department, slipped and fell headlong down the face of the quarry, a distance of about 20 feet.
Mr Rae received slight concussion and facial injuries.
ROCKED DOWN BY CAR, HUNTLY, Wednesday. John Nuttall, aged 14, son of Mr and Mrs W. Nuttall, jun.,’ of Ruawaro, was knocked down by a car to-day. The boy, who was rendered unconscious, suffered slight concussion and minor injuries.
WAN Fpyiyp DEAD. AUCKLAND, Thursday. The body of Francis Sinclair Shirriffs, aged 49, dental mechanic, was found In his workroom yesterday morning. He was lying on a settee and there was a gas tube near by. Deceased was married and had no family.
MAN’S LEG AMPUTATED. ROTORUA, Wednesday. Crushed beneath a fallen tree yesterday Mr Peter McGuire, aged 60, a bushman engaged at Arahiwl, received Injuries which later necessitated the amputation of his right leg. Mr McGuire was felling a tree snd was unable to get cleat* before it crashed on to him.
