The Times’ ’Dublin 'correspondent! reports that Mr 'Dc Valera’s latcsfi tariffs threaten to paralyse business. The 75/150 per cent, duty on motor car and omnibus bodies is prohibitive. Though 33 1-3 per cent. Empire preference is allowed, this is useless and the duty must he regarded as a direct attack on 'British manufacturers. The Irish motor trade is unanimous that the tariffs are economically inexcusable and that they will lead to complete paralysis, with vast unemployment and distress. Mr De Valera’s newspaper «ays that increases in Urn cost of living are inevitable, hut they must be borne with fortitude for Uia cause.
