France polled the second ballot with a heavy heart, the assassination of AI. Doumer, oppressing the electors. There were no demonstrations or -disturbances. The swing to the Left has been maintained. Of the first results, which cover 128 of the 356 seats which were undecided at the first ballot, the Opposition captured 74 and the Government lost 26. The defeat of Af. Tardieu’s Cabinet Is now certain.
