IN THE CANTERBURY DISTRICT. THE BEST CHRISTMAS PRESENT. (By TPh-ernnli. —Press Association.) CIIRIBTCHU-RCH', Thursday. Heavy rain fell over Canterbury last night, doing an immense amount of good to crops of all kinds. It continued for three hours. "This is the best Christmas present that Canterbury lias received," said the Prime Minister when told. Reports from all over the province confirm this.
