RECKLESS DRIVING.
MOTORIST SENT TO GAOL. LOSES LICENSE FOR TEN YEARS. WANGANUI, Wednesday. As a sequel to the death of a young farm worker, Stewart Humphrey, aged 19, at Patea, on May 16, Norman Tinney, a slaughterman, was sentenced to 12 months’ hard’ labour at the Supreme Court to-day, and liis motor-driver’s license was’ cancelled for ten years. Accused had pleaded guilty to charges of recklessly and negligently driving so as to cause death. It was revealed that Tinney previously had been convicted of driving a car while intoxicated, and at the time of Humphrey's death lie was a prohibited driver.
