The New Zealand Metropolitan Trotting Club's carnival opened at Addington to-day in fine weather before a large attendance. The track was in good order. The totalisator handled £20,278, compared with £23,421 last year, a decrease of £3143. HOCKEY. HINEMOA SCORE HIGH. EASY WIN OVER PIRATES. The Hooper Cup series were cohtlnued at Steele Park on Saturday afternoon when Hlnemoa and Pirates met on No. 1 ground, the former side winning by 11 goals to three. In ttie first spell’ play was fairly even, but after the interval Hlnemoa were rarely out of the opposition half. For the winners goals were scored by Latta, Rogers, Allsop (3) and Monteith (2). while Vowless (1) and Powderell (2) were the successful players on the other side. AT AUCKLAND. Seniors.
