LYCEUM CLUB
MORNING TEA FOR MRS COATES. A morning tea party was given by the Lyceum Club yesterday in honour of Mrs J. G. Coates who is visiting Hamilton. Airs Hugh Douglas, 'the club’s president, welcomed Mrs Coates and presented her with a bouquet of flowers. Airs Coates thanked the club for the welcome given her and spoke for a few minutes, very interestingly, on the important part a 'club plays in the everyday life of the women of this generation. READING CIRCLE ENTERTAINS. The Reading Circle of the Lyceum Club held a very interesting evening last night when Atr Gluckman, of Hamilton, addressed the assembly. The Club’s president, Airs Hugh Douglas, introduced Air Gluckman to the assembly. Air Gluckman gave an intensely interesting address on the Russia of today, speaking fluently, and with insight into this difficult subject. He opened new channels of thought for his listeners and depicted vivid word pictures of the situation in Russia. At the close of the address Mrs Douglas thanked Air Gluckman, and the following short programme was rendered: —Piano solo by Aliss F. Jolly. Reading, "Catherine Parr,” by Alaurice Baring.
