ERRONEOUS REPORT.
(To the Editor.) Sir, —-I noticed a report in a southern paper to the effect that there was a good time looming for the cowman; that owing to the favourable exchange we were to receive fabulous wealth in August. The news seemed to be too good to be true, so 1 have made a few judicious Inquiries, and 1 And that the authority quoted as guaranteeing the good news lias repudiated it sans ceremony, and therefore it seems that the report that we arc, as a class, to splash 1N1,250,000 as bonus (£2,500,000 thereof being representative of the proceeds of a favourable exchange) had its foundation on nothing more, stable Ilian the perfcrvld imagination of some imaginatlv: scribe. It. however, was cruel to raise such hopes so high and then dash them to earth. —1 am, etc.. SPANK EH. Hamilton, July 27, mi.
