A TEST CASE.
MARRIED women teachers. DISMISSAL BY BOARD. AUCKLAND, Tuesday. The position of married women teachers as affected by the Finance Act of 1931 (No. 2) and the powers of education boards to dismiss them to make way for single unemployed teachers were put to the test in a case heard by Mr Justice Herdman in the Supreme Court yesterday. The plaintiff was the Auckland Education Board and the defendant Adina Shepherd, teacher at the Avondale school and wife of Frederick Henry Manson Shepherd, assistant master at the Wliangarci High School. After hearing argument, Ilis Honour said that as the matter was of some importance he would take time to consider It.
