MERGING OF SCHOOLS.
HIGH AND TECHNICAL. DIRECTOR MEETS BOARDS. OFFICER TO REPORT. As announced in our issue of Saturday, the Director of Education, Mr T. B. Strong, met members of the Hamilton High School and the Hamilton Technical School Boards of Governors during the week-end in private conference when the question of amalgamation of the two institutions was discussed. After hearing the views of both sides the director expressed gratification at the . general attitude adopted. The .main difference, he said, seemed to lay in the question of how best to effect amalgamation. Mr Strong promised to arrange for a senior officer of the Education Department to go into the whole position. A report would be prepared which would be submitted to the Minister of Education. It would then be for the Minister to decide what action would be taken in the matter.
