COURSING.
THE HAMILTON CLUB. NEW SEASON OPENED. THE JOKER WINS STAKE. The Hamilton Coursing Club’s season was opened at the Whitiora enclosure on Saturday. The president, Mr D. D. Wilson, extended a welcome to the visiting owners, and the public. He mentioned that the club liac! been unfortunate in losing a number of hares by sickness, which had delayed the opening. But the trouble had now been overcome, and the prospects were for a successful season.
The - president then slipped tlie first pair of dogs, and declared the season to he officially open. An excellent afternoon’s sport followed. The hares were in fine condition, due in a large measure to the efforts of Mr Sam Tebbs, ’who had charge of their training. Following were the results: FIRST ROUND. Flying Tui beat Jackie’s Pride, 4—o. Lily of the Valley heat Pearl Logan, 2—o. Lucky Lad beat Blue Jacket, s—o.5 —0. The Joker heat Mine Alone, 4—o. Why Not heat Liberty, 3—o. Flip Hie Frog beat Eileen’s Own, 4—o. Anzac Blue, a bye. FIRST TIES. Lily of tire Valley heat. Flying Tui, 21—1. The Joker heat Lucky Lad, s—i.5 —i. Why Not heal Anzac Blue, 2 —o. Flip the Frog, a bye. Semi-final. The Joker heal Lily of (he Valley, 11—0. Flip ihe Frog beat Why Not, o—l. FINAL. Mr T. McWilliams’ f d Tim Joker (Ace of Spades—Lady Lucy) heat C. P.
