MOTORING ACCIDENT.
CAR STRIKES POST. MARRIED MAN KILLED. FOUR PEOPLE INJURED. AUCKLAND, Tuesday. A flve-seater motor-car struck a telegraph post at Kingsland, shortly before midnight, and was wrecked. Three of the Injured are in tho hospital. The victims are:— KILLED. Mr Harry Merritt Parker, married, Lower Symonds Street. INJURED. Mrs Parker, wife of Mr Parker, suffering from head injuries, abrasions and shock; condition fairly serious. Mr Clifford Cooper, head injuries and a lacerated ear; condition fairly serious. Mr N. Cooper, head Injuries; condition fairly serious. Another man was treated at the hospital for minor injuries and was able to proceed home later. The driver of the car was not Injured. The car struck the post with terrific force. Mr Parker, who was sitting with his wife alongside the driver in the front seat, was hurled violently against the post, receiving a fracture of the skull and other severe injuries. He was removed to the Hospital, but died on admission. Mrs Parker was thrown against the windscreen, which was shattered, and tho dashboard of the car, which was pressed inward by the impact. She was 'ln a serious state when taken from tho wreckage. The other three passengers were lying in a huddled heap on the floor. The car was a complete wreck, the whole of the left side being torn from the body.
