JUNIOR HIGH AND PRIMARY.

MEETINGS AT MAT AM AT A. At the monthly meeting of the Matamata Junior High School Committee Mr E. C. Banks presided. A letter from the Primary School Committee asked to be allowed another representative on the High School Committee. —It was pointed out that the request should have been Sent to the Board of Education, and the secretary was instructed to send a covering letter supporting the request. It was left, to the chairman to arrange for the erection of a cattlestOp’ at the "main entrance, it having befch reported that wandering stock iiad caused damage in the school gardens. Howes) reported that he had taken charge of'the school after the holidays, and the'board had appointed Mr D. E. Adams as relieving- assistant. Mr F. C. White was absent on sick leave, and Mr G. N. Frear was carrying out his duties. The roll number was now 275, with an average attendance of 93.7. The term examination for Forms 4 and 5 were held at the eriif of AprlTy aand the following were the leading scholars:—Form 4: Annie Wright 1, Bertha Clow 2, Len Goodwiri 3, Henry < Knyvett 4, Form J 5: Douglas Gordon 1, Margaret Earle 2, Allan Rutile 3, Evelyn Smith 4. V THE PRIMARY SCHOOL. , ' Rev. Ai C. Hampton presided at the hnonthly/ meeting of the Primary School' Corhmittcc. The Education Board advised that it luul.no power to allow the coinmttte‘e to remain at nine members.—The secretary reported that Messrs A. S. Tliirlwall and R. W. Stevens had withdrawn, and tiie number was now correct. The acting headmaster reported an attendance of 220, 'and that with the number • of children approaching school age in the town the roll number should soon increase. He appealed for a special'! efrort in attendance, beeari'so an average of 91.5 would entitle, the school to another teacher.
