NEW ZEALAND v. SYDNEY. GAME ENDS IN A DRAW. AN EXCELLENT EXPOSITION. United Press Assn. —Eloc. Tel. Copyright. SYDNEY, June 7. The New Zealand University Rugby team drew with Sydney University in the test match yesterday, 11 points all, after leading by 6 points to nil at half-time. It was a very fine game. The ground was dry and fast, and botii sides played open Rugby. The home backs showed better individual form and more enterprise and dash than the proceeding match. New Zealand scored a penalty goal and two tries, one of which was converted, and Sydney scored three tries, one of which was converted. The teams were as follows: New Zealand. —Backs, Bush, Mackay, Thomas, Williams, Ruru, Ewart, Pryde; forwards, Stephenson-Wright, Edwards, Barker, McVeagh, Dixon, Hodge, Perkins, Delderlch. Sydney.—Backs, 'Bohane, Kennedy, Gibson, McMahon, Hemmingway, Simpson, McShane; forwards; Joyce, Page, Morey, Book, Ellas, Love, Barry, Murfltt. King replaced Stephenson-Wright, who was hurt in the first half. King suffered a minor injury in the second half, and was replaced by Peacock. The captains agreed beforehand on Replacements. Throughout the first half play was fairly even, owing to the improved form of the Sydney forwards, and also to the better defence of the backs. Bush opened the scoring by kicking a penalty goat from a long way out. Ruru was responsible for a brilliant try near the interval. After ’the resumption of play Gibson and Booth gained tries for Sydney and Hemmingway converted the latter. The first try was the result of a threequarter rush, when the New Zealand defenders were outflanked. Booth’s try was the result of a cross-kick, which left an open goal line. Peacock scored a try from a forward scramble, which Bush •converted and regained the lead for New Zealand.

Joyce equalised the scores at the end of a passing rush between forwards and backs. Sydney was still attacking in the last five minutes. Bush was again outstanding. Burn was well marked throughout, but was again resourceful.
