KNOOKED DOWN BY CAR. DEATH IN HOSPITAL. (By Teleß-raph.—Press Association.) CHRISTCHURCH, Monday. Robert Balmer, married, aged 56 years, died In the Christchurch Hospital last night from injuries received when he was knocked down by a car on Saturday evening. KNOCKED DOWN BY CYCLE. AUCKLAND, Monday. Severe injuries to Hie head were received by Mr Joseph Eden, aged 74, when lie was struck by a motor cycle in Hobson Street. The rider of the cycle, Mr Charles Rudd, was also thrown violently and was picked up in a dazed state. When crossing the Great North Road yesterday, Mr Thomas Armstrong, aged 58, married, was struck by a motor cycle and received severe ‘injuries lo the head. A collision between a motor car and a motor cycle, yesterday, resulted tn the rider of the cycle, Mr Theodore Hankins, aged 25, being admitted to the hospital suffering from a compound fracture of tlie right leg. MISHAPS NEAR HENDERSON. AUCKLAND, Monday. About one o’clock on Friday morning, Mr ,T. Dorman, who lives on Hie Henderson Valley Road was roused by some unknown person who requested his assistance In hauling a motor-car on to Hie road from where it had run down a bank. The car was eventually righted. Mr Dorman thru went home, hut had scarcely reached his gate when he heard the sound of a crash on the road near the spot lie had just left. Returning, lie found that a second car had gone oil the road and had turned upside down. The occupants, a young man and woman, were pinned underneath it and the petrol was running out of the lank. The car was lifted and the driver and his companion, who were shaken and bruised, were released from I heir position and the car restored lo the mad.
