DRAGGED UNDER TRAIN
INDIAN’S LUCKY ESCAPE. COAT CAUGHT ON CARRIAGE. CONDITION SERIOUS. To be dragged beneath a moving train at Frankton Junction last evening was the unenviable experience of an Indian hawker, Sukha Parsot. It was only the prompt action of the acting-guard, Mr J. W. Snelgar, who immediately stopped the train, that saved -the Indian’s life. Parsot, who resides at Greenwood Street, Frankton Junction, had accompanied several countrymen to see some friends off, and as the train was moving out he jumped backwards from the train on to the platform. The unfortunate man's coat was caught and he was dragged beneath a carriage. The train was pulled up within a few yards by Mr Snelgar, who witnessed the accident. On extricating Parsot it was found that though he had received severe scalp wounds and an injury to the shoulder, the wheels of the train had not passed over him. He was admitted to the Waikato Hospital, where inquiries to-day show that there is no change in his condition, which is reported to be serious. z
