WEDDING.

HOWCROFT—THOMSON. On Wednesday, June 3, St. Bride's Church, Otorohangu, was the scene of a very pretty wedding. The church was beautifully decorated with autumntinted flowers, silver and coloured streamers, and beautiful native ferns and foliage, by girl friends of the bride. The bride was Evelyn Gladys Martha, elder daughter of Mr J. W. Thomson and the late Mrs Thomson, of Te Kawa, and the bridegroom was George James, eldest son of Mrs Howcroft, of Tokanul Cross Roads. Rev. S. R. Warelng officiated, assisted by Rev. Treherne Phillips, and Miss Phyllis North presided at the organ. The bride, who entered the church on the arm of her father, looked charming in a gown of ankle-length ivory Melanese silk, made with tightfitting bodice which was ornamented witli true-lovers’ bow of diamente trimming. Sprigs of orange blossom were caught in a bow of tullo at the corsage, and she wore a silver embroidered veil forming a slight train which fitted to her head with strands of orange blossom and silver ribbon. She carried a bouquet of croam lilies, chrysanthemums and maidenhair fern, finished with streamers tied in truelovers’ bows. She was attended by two bridesmaids, Miss Irene Fawcett, of Hamilton, and Miss Lorna Symes (cousin of the bride), who wore frocks of shell pink and cau de nil taffeta, made into slim fitting corsages and skirts of uneven length, which fell in graceful folds to the ground. Their headdresses were of tulle and silver leaves, toning with their dresses, and they carried bouquets of pink rosebuds. Mr Chas. Ilowcroft (brother of the bridegroom) carried out the duties of best man, and Mr Richard Symes acted as groomsman.

After the ceremony Mrs Symes (aunt of the bride), who was wearing a smart frock of brown crepe de chine, received the guests at her residence in Otewa.
