HUGHES BEATS DONOVAN. DECISION ON POINTS. AUCKLAND, Thursday. The professional feather-weight contest between Tommy Donovan, New Zealand champion, and Archie Hughes, champion of New South Wales, staged last evening, was won by Hughes on points at the end of the full fifteen rounds. The contest was a little disappointing, in that it was characterised by too much clinching and infighting. Amateur Contests. Following are the results of the amateur contests: — Fly-weight.—G. “ GrimmenS, 7st. 1221 b., heat C. Croul, 7st. Bilb., on points. Light-weight.—D. Gordon, 9st. 51b., beat G. Groom, 10st., on points. Feather-weight.—W. Hogg, 9st. 21b., heat H. Purdie, 9st. 4All). Feather-weight.—A. Spragg, Ost., beat C. Smith, 9st. lib., on points.
