UNEMPLOYED RELIEF.
CHRISTCHURCH TO RAISE FUNDS. (By Telegraph.- -press Association.) CHRISTCHURCH, Monday. The Labour majority on the City Council, with the added vote of 'one Independent councillor, carried a resolution this evening making a special order to raise a loan of £39,500 for the relief of unemployment in Christchurch. With the estimated contribution of £42,500 from the Unemployment Board, this sum is to be 'used for the reconstruction of roads, the planting of reserves, the formation of recreation areas, and the clearing and leveling of land for a cemetery.
