VESSEL NOT IN DISTRESS. A SLIGHT ACCIDENT. PUTS BACK TO PORT. (By Teiegrapn.—Press Association.) WELLINGTON, Wednesday. Captain Holm, managing director of the Holm Shipping Company, has received advice from the master that the coastal steamer John had put baei; into Port Waikato because of an ae evident to the circulating pump. This explains why the vessel was thought to be on fire, the steam beinn let off into the air instead of being' passed through the condenser and having the appearance of smoke to people ashore.
