N.Z. ASSOCIATION. THE MONTHLY MEETING. At the monthly meeting of the council of the New Zealand Golf Association Sir Alexander Ro'berts presided. The following new clubs were elected members of this association: Cromwell, Palmerston North, Shannon, Woodvllle and Maraenui (Napier). This makes a total of 13 new olubs elected during the present financial year. 1831 Championship 'Meeting. The recommendations of a subcommittee regarding prize money were considered and it was resolved to increase the prize money allocated by the association to professionals toy £75, bringing it up to £305: Generally speaking there have been no increases'in the first prizes, the bulk of the increase being spread over the lower prizes in each event. The professionals’ •championship foursomes (R. C. Kirk Cup), which up to this year has carried no money prize, now carries with it £lO to each of the winners and £5 to each of the run-ners-up. In the chief event of the tournament, the open championship of New Zealand, the prize money for the first six places (if won toy professionals) is as follows: £4O, £25, £ls, £lO, £lO, £5. A large- number of clubs have voted on the (question of the association granting £IOO towards the earthquake relief fund and have given an almost unanimous vote in favour of the proposal- Fifteen clubs have returned subscription lists and it is known that a very large number of others still have lists posted at their club houses. The committee appointed to advise the council as to the losses suffered •by the clubs in Hawke’s 'Bay consists of Mr F. G. Fryer, captain of the Napier Golf Club, Mr B. A- Murley, secretary of the Hastings Golf Club, and Mr G. O. Carrell, chairman of the Parkvale Golf Cluto. The secretary reported that both the travelling professionals will be available for -further qngagements shortly and he was instructed to notify all affiliated clubs accordingly. GLEN MASSEY CLUB. OPENING OP THE SEASON. A large number of members and visitors attended the Glen Massey Golf Club for Ihe official opening of the season. In the unavoidable absence of the president, Mr D. Cornes, the opening ceremony was performed by the vice-president, Mr S. Davies. After extending a hearty welcome to all, Mr Davies mentioned various improvements, particularly two new holes, that had been effected. The afternoon was spent in playing mixed foursomes, results of which ore:—• Winners. —Mrs Dodds and W. Blair, 50; runners-up, Mrs and Mr T. Jackson 52. Other cards returned were:—Miss Priestly and S.
