SUPERANNUATION.
(To the Editor.) Sir,—At times like the present thoughts run riot as to ways and means. There is one occurs to me now, and that is, Why should any one man receive more by way of superannuation than another? It is right and proper that some provision should be made, but I maintain that all payments should bo equal—say, £4 per week. In what \yay is one man of more Value than another after retiring? While giving service to the community there Is certainly a variation In values, hut this is paid for during the period of service, and the higher paid has had the chance to provide for future needs, and if it has suited that person to live right up to his income that should be his own affair; but it cannot be any duty of the State to provide that he should have enough to carry on to the end of his time at a standard of living that he in his improvidence has set for himself.—l am, etc., E.C.H.
