INTELLECTUALS CHARGED.
W FIVE SENT TO PRISON,
TWO DISCHARGED.

The special State defence tribunal continued its sitting after the execution of Schirru, and tried seven socalled “ Milan intellectuals,” who were charged with plotting against the constitution. The accused were confined In a large cage. Their ages range from 21 to 26. It was alleged that they' belonged to an organisation called “Justice and Liberty,” the objects of which were stated to he violent opposition to the Fascist Stale, and the reconstruction of the Masonic lodges. Two of the most prominent of the
accused men, Signor Bauer and Professor Rossi, were sentenced to im- ' prisoiimont for 20 years. Professor Robcrti and an engineer, Signor Camaco, were sentenced to 10 years' Imprisonment, arid an airman, Biezzoli, 1o imprisonment for six years. Tiro others were acquitted.
