GUILTY OF 67 COUNTB.
SOLICITOR AND CLERK CONVICTED
NEW PLYMOUTH, Sunday.
In the Supreme Court yesterday, before Mr Justice Reed, Harold John Mouie Thomson, solicitor of Inglewood, and Samuel Robert Darloyv, his clerk were found guilty on 57 counts totalling about £BOOO. Accused were remanded for sentence. Clinton Henry Wynyard, public accountant, New Plymouth, in his evidence said the trust account now stood In credit of £59 14s 6d, and the amount to be met in connection with the charges in the indictment was between £7OOO and £BOOO. His Honour: Does that represent the whole of defalcations you discovered? i . Witness: No. I estimate the amount at between £12,000 ami £14,000. In summing up, His Honour said that each of the accused had endeavoured to throw practically the whole of the responsibility on to the other. ■
