RACING.

THE WYNYARD PLATE. RIDER FOR LEASEHOLD. T. Webster is coming north from Otaki to ride at the Takapuna meeting. Among his mounts at that fixture will be the Hamilton owned and Ellerslie trained Leasehold in the Wynyard Plate on the second and concluding day. Luminary Giving Trouble. . Luminary has been giving trouble of late. The Day Comet—Thurnline gelding, who is in W. J- McLean's ‘team at Cambridge, developed lameness following his racing at the Auckland meeting where he. figured in second place in two hurdle events. The damaged joint is swollen and the horse’s training has had to be suspended. As a consequence it maybe that Luminary will have to forego his Takapuna engagements. A Good Innings. v ~ Acre’s stock had a further good innings at the Foxton meeting, at which they won five races. Tenacre (2), Some Acre, Winacre and Bayacre were the successful candidates. Since the holiday racing was entered descendants of Acre have won no fewer than twenty-three races and the Linacre horse will be very close to the top of the list of stake earners at the close of the Ift Hr Ait season of racing. To Rida at Takapuna. H. Stokes, who is attached to T. Webster's stable at Otaki, will be seen in the saddle at the Takapuna meeting.- This apprentice was associated with Some Acre when the latter scored on the concluding day at Poxton. When Bayacre brought ofT his surprise win at the Levin meeting in November Stokes was the pilot. He did some riding in Australia in-the early part of the season where he steered a couple of winners.
