BIRTHDAY DANCE.
COMING-OF-AGE CELEBRATIONS. A dance was given at the Revellers’ Cabaret on the evening of Thursday, October 30, by Mrs McKenzie, of Otorohanga, to l celebrate the coming-of-age of her son Edgar. Music \yas played by the .Toy Boys’ Orchestra, and Mrs McKenzie • received her guests wearing- a gown of powder blue taffeta. During the evening, supper was served, the tables being decorated with Iceland poppies. The birthday cake was cut amid applause and calls of ‘-‘Old Boys,” for which team Mr McKenzie is a player. The usual toasts were honoured, Mr Reece proposing the health of the guest-of-hon-our, and Mr Dixon that of Airs McKenzie, to both of which Mr McKenzie replied. Mr A. J. Stewart spoke of the good qualities of Mr Edgar McKenzie and called upon Mrs McKenzie to present the key of the house to her son. The early hours of the morning brought a very happy party to an end.
