TOPICS OF THE MOMENT. (Our Resident Representative.) The Otorohanga Tennis Club was officially opened by Mr P. F. Skinner (president), before, a generous gathering of players and spectators. This progressive club now' controls six excellent courts. The Late Lady Carroll. A number of influential natives of this district have journeyed to Gisborne to attend the great tangi, held i>-. connection with the death of Lady Carroll. Sports Meeting Abandoned. The annual Sports Carnival of the King Country and Te Awamutu Schools commenced on the Te Kuiti Domain on Friday morning,' but owing to the wretched weather was abandoned wdien the programme was about one-third through. A matinee of the Empress Picture Theatre provided amusement for the disappointed competitors and their friends. The management decided to hold the sports on December 17, when the whole of the programme of events will be re-contested.
