CROQUET.
CAMBRIDGE CLUB. The official opening of the Cambridge Croquet Club took place on Saturday. A number of visiting players were present, and as the weather was fine a very enjoyable afternoon was spent. Mrs Murray (president) declared the lawns open, and the ladies provided a delicious afternoon tea. 'Competitions were played during the afternoon, the progressive croquet being won by Mrs Coombes (Hamilton) A, and Mrs Brockiesby (Hinuera) B. The crazy croquet was won by Mrs Hawkins (Hamilton) A, and -target croquet by Mrs H. D. Hooker. Among those present were:—Mesdames Murray, Couper, Hawkins (Hamilton), Lewis, Collins (Hinuera), Entwisle, A. Rowe (Hinuera), Russell, H. Ferguson, Aymes, York (Hamilton), Laurent, Butler, Hardy, Cowling, B. Tisch (Hinuera), Gibbons, C. Entwisle,, Jane (Hamilton), Bell, J. Watt, Coombes (Hamilton), Hall, Skeet, Oates (Hinuera), HayeS, McCann, H. D. Hooker, Brockiesby (Hinuera), Poulgrain, G. Watt, Allen, Monfries and Rogers ; Miss Brann and Miss S. Brann.
