The well-known novelist, Rebecca West (37), whose real name is Miss Cicely Fairfield, was married to a London banker, Mr Henry Andrews. The alternative, form of the marriage service was used, omitting from the bride’s vows the word “ obey ” and substituting “ wilt thou love, honour and keep him.” The bridegroom instead of promising to endow all his worldly goods- said “ all my worldly goods with thee I share.”
