Logan’s Pride and Linkman were the only withdrawals from a classy field in the New Zealand Cup Trial, which served to emphasise Wrackler’s qualiiy. Wraoklcr, who has been pronounced a favourite for the big race

< at Addington, was slow to get away in Saturday’s race, most of the field being well on the journey' before Air Nicholl’s gelding settled down to his task, though it must he admitted that a lucky run on the rails at the hack assisted materially. At the hack Jewel Pointer ran to the front, the Aucklander rounding into the straight from Travis Axworthy, Kohara and Wrackler. The race was over then, as a flick of the whip saw Wrackler pass the three leaders, the winning margin being three lengths, with half that distance between Travis Axworthy, with King Pointer next. Outside Wrackler nothing so impressed as King Pointer, who got away badly and was putting in very telling work over the last furlong. Jewel Pointer finished fourth, though it was a disappointment to see him fade out when the pressure was applied. He does not look quite right yet. Lodan Park was a well-supported second fancy. He was never sighted. Dundas Boy finished last. . Harold' Thorpe and Travis Axworthy had every chance. A Good Pair. Glenrossie, who was responsible for a fine performance at the recent Auckland meeting, won the Bollard Handicap, and Stanley T., the English-bred trotter, who won a double at Greymouth, won both trots again at Wellington on Saturday.
