MOTOR CYCLE TRIALS.
THRILLS AT OCEAN BEACH. There was a good attendance of the public at Ocean Beach, Raglan, to witness a series of trials by members of the Waikato Motor Cycle Club. The entries were large, the contestants coming from Hamilton, Huntly . and Cambridge. At one stage G. Knight, of Huntly had the misfortune to be thrown from his machine and sustained injuries to an arm. Following are the results: — Half-mile sprint: E. Smith, Huntly (Velooette), 5 secs., 1; F. Knapper, Huntly (A.J.S.) 5 secs., 2; C. Hill (New Hudson), 6 secs., 3. 3 Mile Race (5 turns): J. Morriss, scr. (A.J.S.), 1; H. Kennedy 30 secs. (Ariel), 2; S. McDonald 30 secs. (Velocette), 3. Time 3.45. 5 Mile Race (9 turns); J. Kennedy, 45 secs. (Ariel), 1; S. McDonald, 50 secs., (Velocette), 2; H. Kennedy, 35 secs., (Ariel), 3. Time 6.23. Two-mile Race (3 turns): W. Roberts, Huntly, 25 sees. (A.J.S.), 1; F. Morriss, 10 secs., (Brough Superior), 2; A. Schmitt, 10 secs. (Norton), 3. Time 2.21 4-5. In a rolling start over a half-mile, to decide the fastest motor cycle on the beach all five machines finished very close: J. Morriss (A.J.S.), 1; F. Morriss, (Brough Superior), 2; A. Schmitt, (Norton), 3. Time 24 secs.
