FIRST IN A.D. 998.
The invention of the first clriolc is ascribed to Pope Silvester 11., in A.D. 996.. Tlie watch came into existence at the end of tho 15th. century and the hair spring was added at the end of the 17th. Time-keeping perfection was reached with the production of the Unicorn Watch, obtainable from all good jewellers.
