ITEMS OF INTEREST. ’(By Our Resident Reporter.) Farmer’s Failure. Ernest Archibald Merrin, farmer, of Otorohanga, has filed a petition in bankruptcy, stating his assets are £32 and unsecured liabilities £952 3s <cl. The deficiency is £920 3s 7d. There were no creditors present at the Official Assignee’s- office, at Hamilton, when a meeting of those interested was to have been held. Merrin has been farming, storekeeping and butchering in the Otorohanga district for many years. The Weather. This month, so far, no less than 4.67 inches of a rainfall has been registered on J 6 days. During October, 1929, 3.10 inches were recorded in ten days. At Hie moment of writing the conditions are quite good and apparently settled for a fine spell. Unsatisfied Creditors. At a sitting of the Otorohanga;- S.M. Court several debtors were examined as to their ability .or prospects of liquidating their liabilities. Fortune, old settlers of the Otewa district. King Country friends of the family greatly regret the early passing of one who had been popular with all classes in the communityjuvenile Operetta. A large gathering occupied the Town Hall to witness the juvenile operetta “ The Sleeping Beauty, which was produced in aid of the funds of the Anglican Church and school. The cast was carefully selected and the results of their endeavours reflected credit on selectors and trainees. Personal. Mr -A. W. Essex, passenger agent for the Canadian Pacific Railway, has been visiting Otorohanga. He was impressed with the potentialities of the district and with the magnitude of local dairying activities.
