JOHNNY&JOAN
What wonderful things happen In the Land of Nod! Our young adventurers came upon a funny little walking stick the other It was Bone who first picked it up, and then he did a natural thing—he struck the ground with it. Hullo!! What’s this!!! A queer old goblin appeared out of the ground. “Whososver strikes this stick will get his wish in half a tick” crooned the spirit. Oh dear! Bone was all of a tremble, but the goblin disappeared almost as quickly as he came. “Now what can I wish for” chuckled Bone. “Ah! I know!!—l wish for a great marrow-bone.” No sooner had our puppy said these words than —'Wallop! Down came the biggest marrow-bone ycu ever saw. I don’t know where it came from but it plopped right across poor old Bones' back. “Help! Help!! I'm getting squashed!" yelped the poor little puppy. After a struggle Johnny and Joan lifted the huge marrowbone away and our little dog was free. It must be very nice to have a wishing stick, but I think in future Bone must bo careful what he wishes for. PETER PAN.
