ARMISTICE DAY.
NO OFFICIAL WREATH. GOVERNMENT’S PROPOSAL. ENDORSED BY THE ALLIES. United Press Assn. —Elec. Tel. Copyright. (Received Oct. 24, 11.35 a.m.) LONDON, Oct. 23. There is considerable comment on the action of the Foreign Office in circularising the Allied Governments and proposing that no official wreaths be placed on the Cenotaph on Armistice ! Day or on the tombs of the unknown warriors, in the various capitals on official occasions. It is understood that most of the other Governments have agreed with the British Government’s proposal which animated the idea that official celebrations must be ended some time, and It is not wise to prolong memories of the war for an indefinite period.
