INEFFICIENT SILENCER.
MOTOR CYCLISTS FINED* HAMILTON MAGISTRATE’S COURT. An interesting argument was heard in the Hamilton Magistrate’s Court this morning, in a case in which Arthur Henry Webber was charged with not having an efficient silencer on his motor cycle. Evidence was led by defending counsel, Mr Al. L. Tompkins, to show that the silencer on the machine was an efficient one and the. best that could be obtained. His 'Client had been riding his machine in Hamilton for the last two years and this was the first time he had been before the court. Admittedly, he ’had been warned on a previous occasion. The silencer, Mr Tompkins pointed out, could not be iniDroved on. -- is not for me to say what he should do,” Mr Wyvern Wilson, S.M., remarked in inflicting a fine of 10s, with costs for a similar amount. Apparently the machine was a very noisy one—a sports model, and on the facts defendant must be convicted. “ I thought we had checked this offence, but It seems to be going on again," His Worship remarked in fining Arthur West, who did not appear, 20s, with costs 10s, on a similar charge.
