MORRINSVILLE ORPHANS.
CLOSE OF THE SEASON. A SUCCESSFUL GATHERING. There was a particularly large gathering at the Morrinsville Orphans’ Club’s last meeting, when the season was brought to a close by a most enjoyable ladies’ night. President A. 11. J. Wyatt presided, and visitors were present from Cambridge, Te Aroha, and Hamilton.. A combined orchestra, 'conducted by Bro. J. T. Battersby, added greatly to the enjoyment of the evening. The following was the programme: Orchestral selections, conductor, Bro. Battersby; song, Bro. Echlin; cello solo, Bro. Morse (Te Aroha) ; humorous monologue, Bro. Woolridge (Cambridge) ; songs, Mr J. J. Scales. The usual Orphans’ supper was then served. Bro. Echlin led the Orphans’ dirge, in which all heartily joined. President Wyatt expressed the pleasure it gave the members of the Morrinsville Orphans’ Club to have the ladies present at their meeting, as well as brethern from other clubs. Bro. Woolridge (Cambridge), Wilson (Hamilton) and Walsh (Te Aroha), thanked the Morrinsville club for the welcome received. The programme was then continued' as follows Orchestral selections; stories and comic song, Bro. Hampshire (Cambridge); instrumental trio, Bros. Morrice, Wingham, Harbutt; song, Bro. Battersby; humourous song, Bro. Death wall (Cambridge); song, Bro. Ken Eade (Hamilton); song, Bro. O’Connor (Te Aroha). The accompaniments were played by Mrs Scales and Bro. Battersby. The singing of “ Auld Lang Syne,” concluded .what was admitted by all to have been the best attended and most successful gathering the club has had.
