ST. JOHN’S GIRL’S CLUB.
SOCIAL AT TE AWAMUTU. The Parish Hall at Te Awamutu was well filled with a very happy throng, l the occasion being a special assembly of St. John’s Girls’ Club to entertain members of the recently established organisation, the Church of England Men’s Society, and their wives, besides several other special guests. The evening was devoted to games, competitions, and instrumental music, and then followed dancing. A competition, jumbled names, was won by Mr A. Morris, and the naildriving contest found Mr G. Edge the winner. Rather remarkably, Mr Richards gained the “booby" honours in each contest. Music for the dancing was provided by Mrs Bent, Misses H. Garvey and L. North, and Mr A. Morris. Mr N. E. Lee expressed the guests’ sincere appreciation of a happy evening, and the wish that the Girls’ Club would continue to function as a live and useful department of Church work. Mr Lee’s remarks were endorsed by hearty applause from the guests.
