FIRE IN DUNEDIN.
EMPLOYEES’ NARROW ESCAPE. " ' (By Telegraph.—Press Association.) DUNEDIN, Sunday. ' Two persons had narrow escapes from a building which caught fire in Castle Street, Dunedin, yesterday morning. The outbreak, which occurred in premises occupied by Mr J. H. Millow, was discovered by an employee, Miss Clark. . Miss Clark gave the alarm, but found that the flames had spread to a stairway, and that she was trapped in the upper portion of the building. She then managed to reach one of the front windows, from which she dropped about 14ft. She was caught in the arms of a man who had been about to pass the building when he saw her plight. One of the male employees of the firm made an effort to extinguish the fire, but he also found himself trapped by the flames. He succeeded in making his way to the window through which Miss Clark had jumped, and there he was rescued by several men with a ladder. «
