THE ARAPUNI TROUBLE.
WILL POWER FAIL?
MAINTAINING SUPPLY. BOARD OFFICER’S VIEW. Asked if the power cut-off from the Arapuni turbines would result in a decreased supply of power to Hamilton and district, a leading power board official stated this afternoon that in his opinion there would be very little change. Auckland, he considered, would be able to bear its own load from the King's wharf and Penrose stations and the Hamilton supply would not be greatly affected. There might be a lower voltage and some restrictions might be necessary but the position, in his opinion, would not be serious. Our informant stated that he had received no official intimation of how the power supply for the province would be handled but from past experience he could speak reassuringly.
