AT FRANKTON VARDS. SMALLER YARDING OF BEEF. Despite the inclemency of the weather the weekly stock sale at the Franukton saleyards was well attended, and with keen competition bidding was brisk. There was a smaller yarding of beef than usual, while average numbers of sheep and pigs were penned. The auctioneers, up to the time of going to press, quote as under:— Dalgety and Co., Ltd. Messrs Dalgety and Co., Ltd., report.that there was a small yarding of beef. The market was very firm, and prices generally were higher than last week. Light two-year-old steers made £9 12s to £lO 7s; choice young cows and heifers, light weights, to £9 17s 6d; ordinary quality cows, £7 to £8 15s; unfinished cows, £4 10s to £5 ss; runners, £4 t>s to £5; fat wethers, 22s 7d to 235; good fat ewes, 16s 3d to 18s sd; others, 11s Id to 13s 6d; ewe hoggets, 18s 6d; ordinary baconers, £3 to £3 is; lighter, £2 8s to £2 19s; porkers, 35a to £2, Farmers’ Auctioneering Co.
