SEQUEL TO FATALITY.
ALLEGED NEGLIGENT DRIVING. AUCKLANDj Tuesday. A charge of negligently driving a motor-car, causing the death of William 'John Ilumby, on May 17, was preferred in the Police Court yesterday against Andrew Smith, fish-curer, aged 38. An inquest into the death of Humby, labourer, aged 67, was conducted by the coroner, Air P- K. Hunt, S.M., simultaneously. Smith, who pleaded not guilty, was committed to the Supreme Court for trial. Bail was renewed on the same terms as before, £SOO, with one surety of £SOO. The coroner returned a verdict that the cause of Humby’s death was a fracture of the skull as a result of having been knocked down by' a motor-car driven by Smith. '
