Wanklyn at a meeting of the New Zaland Cricket Council this evening. The receipts were: —-Guarantees, £2625; cash from Australia, £3574; first test, £486; second test, £740; third test, £B2; fourth test, £704; total, £B2ll. The expenses were as follows: —Tour in New Zealand, £4942; in Australia, £1133; first test, £237; second test, £93; third and fourth tests, £399; total, ■ £6804. The net surplus was £1407. Mr Wanklyn announced also that an amount of £3Bl, income tax charged in Australia, had been remitted under agreement with the M-C.G. The surplus would have to be devoted to recompensing the M.C.C. for the payment of the professional players with the team. Those fees totalled £I6OO, and £I4OO would be available to meet them. But for rain the Council'would probably have been able to pay the Marylebone Club in full, and have had £IOOO profit.
