ARREST AT AUCKLAND. MEMBER OF SHIP’S GREW. AUCKLAND, Friday. Investigation by the police of the suspected importation of opium from Sydney resulted in the arrest yesterday afternoon of a member of the crew of the steamer Maunganui. The police have for some time entertained suspicion of a large traffic in the drug, and the Maunganui has been closely watched on recent trips. The man had in his possession three tins of prepared opium, each Bontaintng half a pound of the drug. The marketable value of this is about £l4 a tin.
