'At 'the seventh annual meeting of the Waipa Hockey Association there was a large and representative attendance. Mr C. A. Finch, a vicepresident, presided. The balance-sheet showed a credit balance of £5 15s 9d. In a brief review of the year’s working the chairman said four teams had competed in the championship competitions, and Paterangi had again proved victorious. Waipa’s representatives had again won the coveted White Horse Cup in the Auckland Country Week tourney. The visit of the Rodney Association’s representatives on June 3rd had proved a very enjoyable one. A request had been made on that occasion that the series of home and home visits between representatives of the two associations should he continued. Election of Officers. The election of officers resulted:— Patron, Mr C. G. Downes; president, Mr G. 0. Jourdain; vice-presidents, Messrs C. Davis, C. J. Spiers, C. Finch, senr., J. T. North, and A. A. Reese; secretary and treasurer, Mr C. A. Finch; auditor, Mr W. J. McGovern; delegate to Auckland Hockey Association, Mr W. Newsham (re-elected); grounds committee, Messrs G. J. Spiers, C. Davis, and O. Finch; delegate to Waikato Association, Mr F. Craig; selectors, v Messrs C. J. Spiers, C. A. Finch and C. Davis. An application was received from the Otorohanga Club for affiliation if suitable arrangements could be made as to home-and-home matches, and for a transfer from the jurisdiction of the Maniapoto Association. —It was stated that as the latter association is moribund, and unless Waipa will accept them, Otorohanga would have to apply to Waikato for admission. The difficulties of arranging for matches owing to the different halfholidays was considered insuperable, and the fact that Paterangi teams could not travel to Otorohanga was another obstacle. After discusion, the secretary - was instructed to write to the Otorohanga Club stating the difficulties. The Epsom Cup. The question of a commencing date for the Empson Cup competitions was considered, and it was decided to make a start on Wednesday, May 21, with the two Te Awamutu teams playing at Albert Park, and the two Paterangi teams meeting on their home ground. The draw for the Erst rounds was as follows: — May 21. —Paterangi A v. Paterangi R, at Paterangi; Ramblers v. Waratah, at Albert Park. May 28.—Paterangi A v. Ramblers, at Paterangi; Paterangi B v. Waratah, at Te Awamutu. June 4. —Paterangi A v. Waratah, at Albert Park; Paterangi B v. Ramblers, at Paterangi. It was decided to play two rounds, with the right to play a third round if deemed advisable before the second round commences. - - ■ • Visit to Warkworth.

The secretary, Rodney Association, forwarded a cordial invitation for the Waipa representatives arid supporters to visit Warkworth on* June '3. Waipa was also asked to extend the invitation tojthe Waipa Ladies’ Association, in that a-ladies’ team could also make the trip. The meeting was very keen on accepting the invitation, but there were difficulties of transport, for the trip meant six hours’ motoring each way. It was decided to accept the invitation. The invitation for the ladies’ team will be referred to the Ladies’ Association. A vole of thanks to last year’s officers was carried toy. acclamation, as was also the usual compliment lo the chair. AUCKLAND LADIES’ ASSOCIATION.

COUNTRY WEEK TOURNAMENT. AUCKLAND, Friday. . The weekly meeting of the Auckland Ladies’ Hockey Association was presided over by Miss P. H. Dawson. Delegates from Piako and Waipa were present. It was decided that provided the sub-associations intending to be represented at the approaching Country Week tournament in July were agreeable, the Auckland Provincial Cup tournament should commence on Monday, July 14, in order that this tournament be run at the same time as the Auckland Hockey Association’s White Horse Cup tournament. This last-named tournament is being held later than the rules allow to enable those country players who so desire to witness the English Rugby matches to be played in Auckland about that time.
